How it all began
Like most great companies, Maxxis started small. Founded in 1967, Maxxis International began as a manufacturer of bicycle tyres in Taiwan. Growing steadily, Maxxis eventually became the largest manufacturer of bicycle tyres in the world – as it is today.
In the decades that followed, Maxxis has expanded into new markets, offering products for motorcycles, cars, 4x4s, light trucks, trucks and buses, ATVs, lawn and garden products, race karts, industrial vehicles and trailers.
But no matter how large we’ve become, creating and retaining lifelong customers who love and trust our tyres is our primary purpose.

The future: Innovation and technology
Technology is key to producing outstanding tyres.
Maxxis continues to deliver on this imperative with ongoing expansion of its research and development operations, currently maintaining five research facilities around the world in Taiwan, China, the United States and the Netherlands. These facilities are of considerable size, accommodating hundreds of chemists and engineers who use their expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to advance tyre and compound design and innovation.
The Maxxis’ Research and Development team also undertakes ongoing testing on rubber compounds, with constant fine-tuning to match precise requirements for both replacement and original equipment tyres.
Continually looking to improve tyre performance, Maxxis has also invested in its own private proving ground in China which is one of the few privately owned in China.
Evaluations of Maxxis tyres are also carried out by championship-winning racing drivers, who test our tyres under the toughest competition conditions and give vital input that directly affects the finished product destined for safe everyday use on roads and (off-road) in Australia and around the globe.
